In Memoriam: April Gustavsen

The Cumming School of Medicine (CSM) is mourning the loss of April Gustavsen. Gustavsen worked in the faculty for more than a decade in the Admissions and Student Affairs Office for the undergraduate medical education program. She was 56.

Gustavsen grew up in Williams Lake, B.C. With a lifelong passion for teaching and learning, she was a school teacher for many years in Ontario and Calgary before joining the CSM.

She was predeceased by her husband Jon in 2019, with whom she had two children.

Gustavsen was a lover of the outdoors, a woman of faith and is remembered by friends for her always-friendly smile and sympathetic ear. She passed away on Sept. 29, 2020.

Gustavsen's funeral is scheduled to take place Friday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. Due to public health regulations related to COVID-19, attendance is limited. You can watch via livestream.
