Graduation

Students must complete an Application for Graduation before the relevant deadlines.

Graduation requirements

Thesis-based and course-based students must complete different tasks in order to graduate. If you miss the deadline to apply for graduation, you must stay registered and pay applicable tuition and general fees until the end of the term in which your degree requirements are met. Talk to your Graduate Program Administrator about degree requirements or notice of completion.

  1. Complete an Application for Graduation through your Student Centre
  2. Submit your thesis and required documents to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. See Submit your thesis.
  3. Make sure your student account has no overdue fees. You will not receive a diploma or be able to order transcripts if you have any outstanding fees. See Paying your fees.

Please note the term deadlines to apply for graduation and attend convocation. Current dates are listed in the Academic Schedule.

  1. Fall deadline

    Complete all degree requirements and apply for graduation by the Fall session fee payment deadline and attend the convocation ceremony in November.

  2. Winter deadline

    Complete all degree requirements and apply for graduation by the Winter session fee payment deadline and attend the convocation ceremony in February.

  3. Spring deadline

    Complete all degree requirements and apply for graduation by the last day of the Winter term and attend the convocation ceremony in June.

  1. Complete an Application for Degree through your Student Centre.
  2. Ensure you have a successful completion of all required courses with an overall GPA of 3.0 and any other exit requirements specific to your program.
  3. Make sure your student account has no overdue fees. You will not receive a diploma or be able to order transcripts if you have any outstanding fees. See Paying your fees.
  4. If you are a Haskayne MBA student you need to declare a specialization.

  1. Fall deadline

    Complete all degree requirements and apply for graduation by the last day of the Summer session and attend the convocation ceremony in November.

  2. Winter deadline

    Complete all degree requirements and apply for graduation by the last day of the Fall session Winter conferral.

  3. Spring deadline

    Complete all degree requirements and apply for graduation by the last day of the Fall session and attend the convocation ceremony in June.

Grad degree completion letters

If you have met all of your degree requirements, you can get confirmation indicating that your degree will be officially conferred!

Please fill out a Request for Confirmation of Degree Completion form and submit it to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Submission of this form will enable you to:

  • Print a Grad Degree Completion Letter through your Student Centre.
  • Request final official transcripts through Enrolment Services showing the date your degree will be officially conferred.

Please note: Grad Completion Letters can only be generated up to one year after your degree has been awarded. Also, you will not be able to print a letter from your Student Centre if you have a hold on your account.
