    Eligibility

    To be eligible, applicants must be living in Alberta while studying at an Alberta post-secondary institution. In addition, you must meet the eligibility criteria for the specific award:

    Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES): This award is for Canadian/Permanent Residents. Contact your graduate program early (Engineering, History, Psychology, ect) for application information as it is up to programs how they manage their allocations of this award. Programs submit their nominees to FGS no later than June 30th each year for September awards.

    Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES) - Indigenous: Consult the Indigenous Graduate Award Competition

    Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES) – International: All eligible thesis-based international students who apply to the current Graduate Award Competition will automatically be considered for this award, consult your program for your program GAC deadline. GAC application opens November 1st each year in your student portal. You must apply for at least one award within GAC to be considered for AGES International (it is not a selection you can make).

    NOTE: GAC application is for awards that start the following academic year, the majority, including AGES International, start the following September.

    Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES) - Indigenous Research: All eligible Canadian thesis based students who are Status Indian/First Nations, Non-Status Indian/First Nations, Métis or Inuit and who apply for a tri-agency scholarship will automatically be considered for this award. CGS-D deadline is in October and CGS-M deadline is December 1st.

    NOTE: Students holding concurrent tenured or tenure-track positions at UCalgary or other post-secondary institutions who have not taken a leave from their positions are not eligible for the AGES Indigenous Research scholarship.

    Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES) - Research: All eligible Canadian/Permanent Resident students who apply for a tri-agency scholarship will automatically be considered for this award. CGS-D deadline is in October and CGS-M deadline is December 1st.
