Jocelyn Lockyer named honorary fellow of the Royal College

The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and its Council have bestowed one of just three honorary fellowships on the Cumming School of Medicine's Senior Associate Dean, Education, Dr. Jocelyn Lockyer in recognition of her stature and remarkable accomplishments in medical sciences.  Dr. Lockyer's nomination was founded in her exceptional contributions to clinical care, mentorship, teaching, and inspirational leadership – all attributes that are strongly aligned with the Royal College’s mission and mandate.

The purpose of honorary fellowship is to honour distinguished physicians, surgeons or other persons for outstanding performance in a particular vocation or area of professional activity, consistent with the aims and objectives of the Royal College. 

Dr. Lockyer's honorary fellowship will be conferred at a convocation ceremony in conjunction with the Royal College’s International Conference on Residency Education in October 2017, in Quebec City, Quebec.

Recent Honorary Fellows include Brigadier-General Jean-Robert Bernier, Surgeon General of Canada (2013), His Excellency the Right Honourable David L. Johnston, Governor General of Canada (2012), and Dr. Louise Arbour, former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada (2008). Honorary Fellows are entitled to use the designation FRCPSC (Hon)
