Areas of Research

Magnetic nanomaterials
Our group is interested in magnetic nanomaterials (nanoparticles, thin films) that have applications in sensors; medical imaging, diagnosis, and therapeutics; as well as fundamental aspects of nanomagnetism. This research spans the fields of nanomaterials synthesis, materials characetrization, and application of these nanomaterials.
Clean energy conversion
OUr group works on developing sustainable nanoscaled catalysts for clean energy storage. In particular, we are interested in developing novel (photo)electrocatalysts that mediate the oxygen evolution reaction in the context of water splitting (electrolysis). This project spans the fields of materials synthesis, physical and electrochemical characterization, and involves using state-of-the-art synchrotron-based spectroscopic methods to probe these materials.
