Areas of Research
My laboratory is interested in the effect of peripheral, systemic inflammation on the brain. In particular, we are interested in: 1) how early immune activation causes life-long programming of the brain 2) how peripheral , organ based inflammation can lead to alterations in brain function that may underlie behavioral co-morbidity. We use animal models of disease/inflammation and employ approaches ranging from behavioral studies to molecular analysis to neurophysiology to enable mechanistic investigations.
