Areas of Research
The Pediatric Anesthesia, Imaging & Neurodevelopmental Science (PAINS) lab located at the Alberta Children’s Hospital is committed to exploring the impact of pain and anesthesia on the developing brain, and the mechanisms underlying the development and maintenance of chronic pain in youth. We use a variety of biobehavioral methods to explore these research questions, including state-of-the-art neuroimaging techniques. The goal of this research is to develop effective, evidence-based, targeted interventions to improve the long-term outcomes of vulnerable populations of youth and their families. Check out the PAINS lab website to learn more about our team and research: https://painslab.ca
