Areas of Research
My own research is on 19th and 20th century North American architecture.
I am interested in the material and built aspects of urban history.
More broadly, I have supervised theses, and participated on thesis committees, in the topic areas of public space and neighbourhood design, the politics of space, alternative transportation, heritage planning, and other aspects of urban studies.
I teach in this topic area, and have broad interest in it, especially regarding theories of space, cultural landscape studies, history and politics of professional practice, security, sustainability, and interdisciplinarity.
