Areas of Research

Injury Epidemiology
Injury prevention in youth sport and recreation. Research focus is on the evaluation of risk factors and prevention strategies for injury and concussion in youth.
Injury Prevention
Evaluating injury and concussion prevention strategies in youth sport and recreation aimed to reduce the public health burden of injury, including their long-term consequences (e.g. overweight/obesity, post-traumatic osteoarthritis, post-concussion syndrome).
Concussion
Focus of research is on the evaluation of concussion risk factors, concussion prevention strategies, and concussion rehabilitation strategies in youth.
Pediatric Rehabilitation
As a physiotherapist, my research program in pediatric rehabilitation includes the prevention of the consequences of concussion and injury in youth with a focus on reducing the risk of obesity, reduced physical activity, post-traumatic osteoarthritis, and post-concussion syndrome. In addition, I am interested in the development and evaluation of pediatric rehabilitation strategies and adapted physical activity programs in special pediatric populations such as cerebral palsy and juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
