Preparing your application

You are encouraged to apply for awards when you have submitted your admissions application and received your University of Calgary student number (UCID). You are not required to meet the eligibility requirements in the terms of reference of an award when you apply, but if successful, you must meet the eligibility requirements at the time the award is paid.

Please ensure that you have completed the following two steps before submitting your application:

Students who are eligible to apply for the CIHR Strategic Master’s Award may be eligible for, and are strongly encouraged to apply to, the CIHR CGS-M.

Deadline to apply directly to ResearchNET: December 14

Signatures

All signatures on the Routing Slip are required prior to submission. The Routing Slip must be signed by your supervisor prior to requesting the institutional signature from the Graduate Award Office.  Deadline to forward the signature form to the Graduate Award Office for Institutional signature: December 7th, 2023

Transcripts

You are required to include transcripts from all post-secondary institutions that you have attended, including the UCalgary, even if no grades were assigned or you did not complete the degree, as required by the CIHR Strategic Master’s Award Application

If you submitted a Transcript Request form, the Graduate Award Office will compile all your listed transcripts from your UCalgary Student File and email the PDF file to you by Nov 24

If there are any concerns with your transcripts, you will be contacted. If you have not received your transcripts as of Nov 27, contact gsaward@ucalgary.ca. 

Student responsibility

It is your responsibility to ensure

  • The transcripts provided to you are correct, complete, legible once uploaded and in the correct format. Review the final version of your online application before it is submitted.
  • Signature and Transcript requests are submitted by the deadlines according to the application instructions. Timely completion of requests submitted after the deadline cannot be guaranteed.
