Generative Artificial Intelligence in Education
My research focuses on the integration, use, and ethical implications of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in education, spanning K–12 through post-secondary contexts. This includes developing and evaluating AI-powered tools co-designed with teachers and school leaders to align with local curriculum goals, governance needs, and pedagogical frameworks. A core strand of my work is GenAI critical literacy—helping students and educators learn to critically assess, adopt, and govern AI tools in ways that align with educational values and goals. I examine ethical issues such as authorship, ownership, academic integrity, and equity of access, with a focus on culturally relevant and inclusive design, particularly for newcomers and historically marginalized groups. My research includes designing, piloting, and evaluating generative AI applications for various educational purposes . I am committed to collaborative, human-centered design approaches that involve educators, students, and community members in defining what responsible and effective GenAI integration looks like. Through this work, I aim to establish evidence-informed best practices for incorporating GenAI in education in ways that are ethical, practical, and transformative.
