Turn Data into Business Insights In today’s data-driven world, organizations need professionals who can transform complex data into strategic decisions.
The Graduate Certificate in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics at the Haskayne School of Business equips you with the skills to extract and interpret data, manage the information technology requirements within an organization and to oversee the introduction of new technologies. Designed for professionals looking to upskill or pivot into analytics, this program provides hands-on in-person learning in:
- Data management
- Statistical analysis
- Business analysis and business improvement
- System analysis and design
- Change management
- Artificial intelligence
Completing this program
Courses: To earn a certificate, students must complete four required courses. This in-person program can be completed in 8 to 10 months, with the flexibility to take two courses per term to fit your schedule. Please see the Academic Calendar for course offerings.
Laddering Options
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Management Analytics will be eligible to apply for admission into the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and, if admitted, will receive laddering credit for the 12 units of coursework completed. There can be no more than five years between completing the Certificate program and enrolling in the MBA program to receive the laddering credit.
A course-based certificate in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics is usually considered a final degree
GPA
A minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 point system, over the past two years of full-time study (a minimum of 10 full-course equivalents or 60 units) of the undergraduate degree.
Minimum education
Completion of (a) a four-year bachelor’s degree in a quantitative-focused area such as Business/Commerce, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or Technology, or (b) Master of Business Administration, Master of Management, or (c) an equivalent degree from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution.
Note: Applicants who do not meet the degree requirements above may be conditionally admitted and will need to successfully complete an introductory course in business technology management (BTMA317 or equivalent) in advance of beginning the Graduate Certificate. If it is determined by the Graduate Program Director that completion of an introductory course is required, that course will not be considered for credit toward the graduate certificate and appropriate tuition rates will be assessed, separate from the cost of the certificate program.

Test scores
An applicant whose primary language is not English may fulfill the English language proficiency requirement in one of the following ways:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL ibt) score of 97 (Internet-based, with no section less than 20).
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 7.0 (minimum of 6.0 in each section).
