Dr. Michele Jacobsen

Dr. Michele Jacobsen is Associate Dean, Supervision and Mentorship in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Calgary. In this role, she is responsible for developing orientation programs, professional development opportunities, and policies that advance excellence in graduate supervision and mentoring. Dr. Jacobsen oversees supervisory privileges, supports continuous supervisory development, mentors supervisors, and ensures adherence to university standards for quality graduate supervision. She works in close collaboration with other Associate Deans, the FGS leadership team, Academic Specialists, and university partners to strengthen a culture of effective supervision that supports graduate student success.

Dr. Jacobsen brings extensive expertise in graduate supervision, mentoring, and research-informed teaching practice to her Associate Dean portfolio, with a strong commitment to fostering inclusive, collaborative, and high-quality graduate education. A four-time alumna of the University of Calgary, Dr. Jacobsen holds a PhD and MSc in Educational Psychology, as well as a BA in English and a BEd degree.
