Dr. Lee is a Nurse Practitioner, Epidemiologist, and Director of the PICU Research Program at Alberta Children's Hospital. She is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Nursing and Adjunct in Department of Pediatrics, Cumming School of Medicne at at the University of Calgary. Dr. Lee earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from the University of Alberta, Master’s of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner designation from the University of Toronto, and PhD in epidemiology from the University of Calgary in 2025. Dr. Lee’s program of research is centered around patient and family engagement. Her interests include the prevention and management of pain, agitation, and delirium in critically ill children; optimization of organ donation opportunities for bereaved families of critically ill children; and family presence and participation in the PICU. Laurie is the lead of the Therapeutic Cuddling in Critically Ill Kids (CHiCKS) program of research which aims to study the benefits of Therapeutic-cuddling for children admitted to the PICU.
