Areas of Research

Computational Biology, Deep learning, Big data, Systems biology and Experimental genomics
Wang Lab has a computational lab and an experimental lab. Traditionally Wang Lab was mainly working on computational systems biology. Since 2016, Wang Lab has shifted toward on conducting both computational and experimental systems biology. The computational work includes (1) big medical data analysis (2) machine learning and deep learning (3) predictive model construction based on genomic data of diseases including cancer. We are developing novel algorithms for modeling of molecular networks and cancer biomarker discovery, and also developing new concepts for data analysis toward interpreting data, generating, prioritizing and testing new hypotheses. The Experimental work includes (1) genomic studies and gene regulatory network studies by applying the cutting-edge high-throughput technologies such as single-cell genome sequencing, single-cell ATAC-Seq (2) experimental validations for computational analysis (3) genomics of cancer immunology

Working with this supervisor

We are seeking the students for MSc and PhD degrees in either computational biology/big data or experimental biology or both. To seek the option of bid data and computational biology studies, the candidates are required to have programming skills.
