Mitacs

Mitacs is a national, not-for-profit organization that has designed and delivered research and training programs in Canada for over 20 years. 

Preparing your application

You are encouraged to apply for awards when you have submitted your admissions application and received your University of Calgary student number (UCID). You are not required to meet the eligibility requirements in the terms of reference of an award when you apply, but if successful, you must meet the eligibility requirements at the time the award is paid.

Please ensure that you have completed the following two steps before submitting your application:

Mitacs-Accelerate

Through Mitacs-Accelerate, graduate students apply their specialized expertise to business-related research challenges. Armed with the very latest tools, techniques, and innovations, the intern brings a new perspective to the problem faced by the industry partner. There are no deadlines, applications are accepted at any time and Mitacs-Accelerate is not a competition.

Submit your complete application, along with the signed Research Funding Application Approvals form, to the Research Services Office.

Mitacs Globalink

Take your research abroad with Mitacs Globalink - travel funding for going between Canada and several international partners.

Mitacs Globalink accepts applications for competitive international research opportunities, including student travel to and from Canada. Projects last 12–24 weeks and are open to graduate students in all disciplines.

Other International programs through Mitacs

The Mitacs JSPS Internship supports graduate students pursuing collaborative research in Japan.

Mitacs Entrepreneur International offers a travel grant to Canadian start-ups that are housed in an academic-institution-linked incubator or accelerator to connect them with host incubators abroad and explore new business development opportunities in international markets.
