On April 18th, at the official residence of the Consul General, University of Calgary's full time Japanese lecturer Ms. Akiko Sharp was awarded the Consul General's Commendation. Ms. Sharp has been a major contributor to the promotion of Japanese language in Canada for many years, including teaching at various universities and Japanese language schools in Manitoba and Alberta, as well as serving as chairman of the Alberta Japanese Language Teachers Association.
