Structural mechanics
Structural mechanics from material science to structural engineering. Areas of application are masonry structures (shear, post-tensioned, rehabilitation), the evaluation and conservation of historic structures, the use of new materials, fracture processes in compressive stress fields and Biomedical engineering (the structural and mechanical behaviour of joints and joint tissues in health, injury and healing, the causes of initiation and progression of post-traumatic osteoarthritis, and the structural behaviour of the cardiovascular system and its tissues).
