
Entrance Awards
The Faculty of Graduate Studies offers awards to new students through the annual Entrance Competition.
These scholarships were established to attract and retain the best and brightest future leaders from around the world in support of the University of Calgary’s Eyes High vision of becoming one of the top five research universities in Canada.

Preparing your application
You are encouraged to apply for awards when you have submitted your admissions application and received your University of Calgary student number (UCID). You are not required to meet the eligibility requirements in the terms of reference of an award when you apply, but if successful, you must meet the eligibility requirements at the time the award is paid.
Please ensure that you have completed the following two steps before submitting your application:

Eligibility
Doctoral Recruitment scholarships adjudicated through the Entrance Competition are exempt from the Award Regulation unless otherwise stated in the scholarship terms of reference.
Read the terms of reference for individual doctoral entrance scholarships that are posted on the Graduate Award Database.
To find all entrance awards, refine your search results by selecting the “entrance” category.
Application
The Entrance Competition opens November 1 of each year.
You can apply for internal awards using our online scholarship application.
- Go to your Student Centre and click the link Apply for Graduate Funding in the Financial Aid section of your home screen.
- Select the Graduate Award Competition Application.
Only one application is required regardless of the number of awards you are applying for.
Deadline
The Entrance competition opens November 1. Deadlines to submit award applications are set individually by graduate programs. To confirm the deadline for your program, check your online application or contact your Graduate Program Administrator. Late applications will not be accepted.
Results
Results will be announced in March - April
