The University of Calgary offers over 55 graduate programs at the Master's and PhD levels in a wide variety of subjects spanning the arts, science, technology, health sciences, environmental design and more.
The first point of contact when considering graduate study is the graduate program in your field of study. The University of Calgary offers Master's and Doctoral training in a wide range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary programs.
Which Graduate Degree is the Best Fit for You?
Professional Master's degrees are course based programs that prepare students for advancement in their profession, including business, architecture, planning, education, nursing, social work, law, medicine, geographic information systems, public policy, sustainable energy development, geoscience, and engineering. Many of these programs are available on a part-time basis.
Research degrees, both Master's and Doctoral, involve a significant research component, normally a thesis. Research degree programs are normally full time, and students are usually funded through a combination of awards, both internal scholarships and external scholarships, support from supervisors, and teaching assistantships.
We also offer collaborative programs like the Doctoral Cotutelle program. Eligible doctoral students may consider the Doctoral Cotutelle, which allows them to receive a PhD from both the University of Calgary and another international research institution.
