Métis Education Foundation Graduate Bursary

The Faculty of Graduate Studies is pleased to announce the winners of the Métis Education Foundation Graduate Bursary, an award of $10,000 open to full-time graduate students with connection to the Alberta Métis community.

Terry Beaulieu, a PhD student in Archaeology, Tobey Berriault, a Master’s student in Political Science, and Jennifer Markides, a Master’s student in Educational Research, all wrote essays explaining the importance of their Métis heritage, being involved in the Métis community, and how they hope to use their studies to increase their awareness of Métis culture.

These students are current and future leaders who have shown value for participation, volunteerism, and the need to seek understanding. The Faculty of Graduate Studies is proud to call them a part of our community.

Métis students now have access to $60,000 in scholarships annually due to this new $750,000 endowment established by the Métis Education Foundation. For more information see “New scholarships for Métis students” published in UToday.
